Torsten Gerloff (born in 1985) has recently completed his international BA and MA studies in Classical Indology at the Department of Indian and Tibetan Studies of the University of Hamburg.
Formerly working as a student employee at the NGMCP (2010 - 2014) as well as a research assistant on behalf of the Śāstravid-Project, Oxford University (2014), he has – under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Isaacson – successfully completed his MA studies and submitted his thesis entitled "An attempt towards the reconstruction and critical edition of the Hevajraprakāśa".
While his main focus lies on mantranaya Buddhism with a particular interest in the study of the development and transmission of the Hevajra traditions – currently being employed as a research assistant in our department where he assists Professor Dr. Isaacson in the collation of manuscripts of the Hevajratantra – Torsten Gerloff has a further interest in the study of the traces of mantranaya Buddhism in the extent of insular and mainland Southeast Asia.
