Biography
Kenichi Kuranishi was awarded a doctorate from Tohoku University in 2008. His doctoral thesis is entitled “A study on the literature of the Yamāri cycle.” Since 2008, he studied at the University of Hamburg as a post-doctoral research fellow of the JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), after which he continued as a research fellow at Taisho University, Japan, where he currently holds a position as part-time lecturer. His main research topic is Tantric Buddhism in India. He is recently interested in the desire-oriented rituals, especially in the Buddhist literatures.
